A native of Sofia, Bulgaria, Andrey started gymnastics at age six. Nothing predestined him to a circus career; his father was a sergeant in the military and his mother a clerk for the department of foreign affairs. In 1997, when he was fourteen, Andrey was spotted by the head of the Boichanovi Teeterboard Troupe who was looking for a lightweight acrobat to be catapulted to the top of their human pyramids. Andrey joined the act and came to the United States with the troupe in 1998. After the Boichanovi completed their farewell engagement with Big Apple Circus in Bello & Friends in 1999, Andrey joined the resident company of Big Apple Circus where he has remained since, captivating audiences with his remarkable acrobatic expertise. During the 2007 – 2008 tour of Celebrate!, Andrey appeared as one of the Golden Statues, an astounding hand-to-hand balancing act.
